Wildlife and Peace

Together, a deer and a rabbit taught me that Peace is the shadow of the Holy.

I was sitting in the yard making prayer ties. This is detailed and fine work, and with each tie -- I had 500 to do, and this was my 2nd or 3rd session -- I said a unique prayer for some aspect of our lives. It was a mantra of behavior and repetition. I was in a state of peace.

A two-year-old doe came up within 10 feet of me, mischivous and playful. She pretended that eating was her reason to be there, but she had come to see me.

At the same time, a cottontail rabbit I did not know lived in my yard, came out and ate clover at my feet.

I learned that Peace is the shadow of the Holy.
