Defenders of Wildlife

speaking up for wildlife

How can we not defend and protect wildlife? Quite aside from the fact that wild creatures are beautiful and fascinating and educational, we owe them. We have encroached on their habitats, managed their natural rhythms to suit our own needs, and polluted their environment. They were surviving well until humans came on the scene and began to threaten their survival, particularly here in the West where I live. We can do no less than preserve and protect whatever we have left relatively undisturbed.
I am not an outdoors person, nor do I have a personal wildlife story to tell. But I am a concerned American citizen who sees freedom eroding all around me. To defend my own freedom to be who and what I am, I have a voice to express my concerns and mechanisms to protect myself insofar as possible. Wildlife, on the other hand, has no voice but ours to protect their freedom to be who and what they are. It's the least we can do.
