Politicians: please consider!

I don't live at the USA. I live in Uruguay, and our wildlife is very different. But I do care about wildlife around the world, and believe it must be protected. I just want to know that it's there, no matter if I never go to Africa to see the elephants, or to Australia to see the koalas, or to Alaska to see the white bears. Those creatures were here before us, and it would be very sad if they left this world before us too, for that would mean that the human species has only the power to destroy. And we would be destroying ourselves, surely, for if we don't keep enough space for the animals, neither will we to the trees, or any kind of natural environment. And that would be our death. What happened at New Orleans and other places should be a reminder of what we're doing to the Earth: it's the symptom of a disease. Unfortunately, the disease are us. My question is, is that what we want to be? Selfish and destructive? Why are we more important than animals? And why can't we live with them in peace? The greed of a few persons shouldn't be our ruin, nor the ruin of any other creature on the planet. And it's not only that animals are beautiful, or that our spirits would be poorer in their absence, it's a matter of simple common sense. I'd just like that people who would pay thousands of dollars for a tiger skin to understand why that is so WRONG. And I also urge the politicians around the world to understand that animals and environment MUST be a priority.
