Stewardship, not Exploitation

Stewardship, not Exploitation

Genesis 1 tells us that God gave humans "dominion" over His creation. But how does God exercise His lordship over us? He becomes a man, in the form of Jesus Christ. Jesus came as a servant, never grasping that equality with God that He knew was His (Philippians 2:5-11). Likewise, as humans made in God's image, we are to exercise our "lordship" over creation by serving it and being good stewards. We should not take more than we need and we should work to replace that which we have taken. This includes respecting the needs of the wildlife which God has placed in His creation and which co-exist with us. Sadly, the results of human sinfulness and exploitation can be seen everywhere. But it is not too late to repent of this exploitation and work towards stewardship instead.
